Dusti Gomery is a self-taught artist with an exceptional talent and passion for creating visually stunning works. Originally from Calgary, and now hailing from Drumheller, Alberta, Dusti’s work captures the essence of beauty and emotion in the world around her. Using bold colors, striking contrasts, and dynamic textures, her unique style has earned her a loyal following of collectors and enthusiasts, and her work can be found in homes around the globe. When not in her studio, Dusti can be found hiking in the mountains, relaxing with her dogs, or riding her motorcycle to find new places for inspiration. Her love of nature and adventure infuses every aspect of her life, and her art is a reflection of the joy, beauty, and wonder she sees in the world around her.
Notes: I really wanted to create something truly unique with this series. Fibre is really my biggest love in the art world, even though I started drawing and painting as a child long before I found fibre. There’s something about working with fibre, a tactile interaction that I just don’t get from the end of a paintbrush. In this series I wanted to explore the idea that although humans can’t see colours in the dark, the reason for their beauty still exists, and when we hold those colours up against a dark background during the daylight, they become richer and more saturated, as though screaming at us “our beauty still exists in the dark!”.
