Anne Marie is an emerging abstract artist based in Alberta, Canada. Her inspirations are nature, colour, and the flow of energy around us all. Through acrylic and oil, she starts with an “alla prima” foundation painting using palette knives, brushes, and other mark-making tools. She then layers more textures and colours to celebrate the image she sees either based on plein air, photos, preliminary sketches, or purely from her imagination. Her colour palette is vibrant and expressionistic, and her works express her joy in the freedom of creativity.
Notes: These three paintings are inspired by my love of the northern lights. Coming from Fort McMurray, I spent many evenings standing outside in the cold taking in their energy, colour, and light. My titles reflect the emotional impact of the aurora borealis on me - they heal, clear, and restore me! Note: all three of my paintings in this art show would also be wonderful as a triptych.
