MEDIUM: Acrylic
SPECIALTY: ✔ Color ✔ Artistic Mindset & Process ✔ Finding Your Artistic Voice

Wayne is a realist acrylic painter. Combining the aesthetic of 17th century Baroque paintings and the composition of modern documentary photography, his works have been described as the contemporary interpretations of Vermeer and Hopper. His work has been widely exhibited in museums and galleries in the last two and half decades such as the Morris Graves Museum of Art, Triton Museum, Crocker Museum, Lan Su Chinese Garden, History San José, and Guardino Gallery. He was born in Guangzhou China and came to the U.S. when he was 15. He holds a degree in illustration from San Jose State University.

As an art educator, Wayne specializes in teaching in color explorations and acrylic techniques. To help others take their art creation to the next level, he also mentors other artists in group or in one-on-one settings. Wayne’s deep interest in art history is incorporated in both his paintings and how he teaches.

In his mentoring programs, Wayne helps you use your own sensibilities and inspiration to find the path of least resistance in establishing your artistic voice.

Wayne will guide you in the logical processes of examining your own artworks so you can make adjustments that can result in a more polished artwork and artwork that sparks the emotional response or the narrative you are after.

Wayne will help you discover, learn, and combine elements from different artists and art movements in art history into your own work to make your artwork more unique.

Through working with Wayne, you’ll have an opportunity to examine every step of your art making process and identify and prioritize where the gaps and inefficiencies are so you can make improvements quickly.
