MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST

watercolor painting by sue dion
As an artist working across multiple mediums including acrylics, watercolor, and oil, my creative journey is characterized by a passion for self-expression and exploration. Through bold and expressive brushwork, I seek to evoke emotions, stir the imagination, and invite viewers into a world of vibrant colors and dynamic forms. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of nature, the complexities of human emotion, and the interplay of light and shadow, my work reflects reverence for the world around me and a desire to capture its essence on canvas.

I revel in the versatility acrylic paints in many of my paintings, using bold strokes and rich layers of color to create dynamic compositions that pulse with energy and movement. Each acrylic piece is a testament to my fascination with texture, shape, and form. In watercolor, I embrace the fluidity and spontaneity of the medium, allowing pigments to mingle and flow freely across the paper to create ethereal and dreamlike images that blur the line between reality and imagination. And in oil, I relish the richness and depth of color, using thick impasto layers and subtle glazes to build intricate textures and evoke a sense of drama and intensity.

At the heart of my artistic practice lies a commitment to authenticity and emotional truth. Through my expressionistic style, I strive to communicate the rawness and complexity of human experience, inviting viewers to connect with the universal themes of love, loss, longing, and hope. Whether through the bold, gestural marks of my acrylics, the delicate washes of my watercolors, or the lush, layered surfaces of my oils, each piece is an invitation to journey beyond the confines of the physical world and into the realm of the soul.
