What you will learn in this mentorship

• This monthly mentor group is designed for experienced artists who are committed to deepening their understanding of abstract painting through exploration, experimentation, and critique. Working primarily with acrylics and mixed media, participants will engage in a supportive yet challenging environment that encourages artistic growth and the development of an individual visual language.
• Each session includes:
• An in-depth art materials demonstration focused on acrylic painting techniques, mixed media processes, and innovative approaches to mark-making, collage, and surface development.
• Introductions to contemporary artists whose work contributes to current conversations in abstraction and material exploration.
• Sketchbook prompts and creative exercises designed to spark new ideas, expand visual thinking, and encourage risk-taking in the studio.
• Group critique and discussion centered on each artist’s current work and creative progress.

1. How to move forward in your creative process through sketch prompts.
2. How to talk about your artistic language with your audience through story telling.
3. How to interact with other members in the group to enjoy how artists can support each other.
4. How to come up with plans for future works to develop during the time in our mentor group.

How This Mentorship Works

• Live online small-group mentorship
• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
• Mentor assigns homework so you can practice the skills you’re learning and get feedback on your results
