Pushing the Boundaries

Exploring the Creative Journey of Leisa Rich

Join Mastrius Founder Julie deBoer as she sits down for a LIVE interview with Leisa Rich, a remarkable multidisciplinary artist and seasoned educator.

Leisa is a mixed-media artist known for her highly innovative use of materials and assemblage, including free-motion stitching and manipulation of a fascinating material called Fosshape®. With a focus on tactile experiences, from large scale installations to wearable sculptures, she continuously pushes creative boundaries that invite viewer interaction.

Leisa began weaving in 1975 and has been experimenting ever since.

“I believe that it should not be a hard and fast rule that we must do one thing and stick with it! As a comprehensive and rich human being, your personal creative voice can be expressed through a multitude of styles and mediums.” ~ Leisa Rich

Leisa holds an MFA, a BFA, and BA in Art Ed degrees, and has been teaching for 48 years across the U.S. & Canada. Her award winning work is featured in numerous publications, including books and magazines, and is held in prestigious collections such as Delta Airlines Inc., Hilton Hotels Inc., and the Dallas Museum of Art.
