What you will learn in this mentorship

• Our group will focus on the development of skills as an alla prima painter–from drawing to brushwork to color harmony to edges– to take your paintings from meh to wow. Sarah Griffin Thibodeaux offers her years of experience teaching the alla prima portrait from years of atelier training and practice and supports you in your journey to refine your alla prima paintings and build your portfolio. Other topics include the importance of a positive mindset–setting your intention, finding the love deep in the work and following that spark, being present to your ebb days as well as your flow days, and picking up and starting again. We’ll have nuts and bolts conversations about getting “out there” and creating not only marketing materials but a persistent online presence and newsletter. Most of all we will support each other on this journey, which Richard Schmid reminds us is a great privilege–to be an artist.

How This Mentorship Works

• Live online small-group mentorship
• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
• Mentor assigns homework so you can practice the skills you’re learning and get feedback on your results
• Meet mid-month with your group for informal connection
