• Find Your Voice in Watercolor — A Mentorship with Megha Kapoor
• This mentorship is created for artists who want to move beyond simply learning techniques and begin discovering their own unique voice in painting.
• Watercolor can be both exciting and challenging. Many artists learn washes, brushwork, and methods—but often feel unsure how to bring personality, emotion, and individuality into their work. This mentorship is designed to bridge that gap: to build strong foundations while helping each student grow into their own visual language.
• My own painting practice lives between realism and impressionism. I am deeply inspired by observation, nature, flowers, and the quiet beauty of everyday life, but I interpret what I see with softness, freedom, and expression. In this program, I will share not only my process, but the way I observe, simplify, and translate a subject into watercolor.
• Our focus will be on the essential building blocks of painting:
• Shapes & Composition – learning how to see the subject as interconnected shapes, simplify complexity, and design a strong composition.
• Values – understanding the importance of light and dark, how value creates depth, mood, atmosphere, and becomes the structure of a successful painting.
• Color – exploring color relationships, harmony, temperature, saturation, and how color can evoke feeling and energy.
• Edges – discovering the role of soft, hard, broken, and lost edges, and how edges help create focus, movement, softness, and expression.
• These elements are not just technical tools—they are the language of painting. Once understood deeply, they allow an artist to paint with confidence, sensitivity, and freedom.
• This mentorship is not about creating copies of my work. My goal is not for students to paint like me.
• My intention is to help each artist develop their own relationship with watercolor—to see more clearly, make stronger artistic choices, trust their instincts, and gradually discover what feels personal and authentic to them.
• Through demonstrations, guided exercises, assignments, feedback, and discussions, this will be a space for exploration, learning, and artistic growth.
• Whether you paint flowers, still life, landscapes, or subjects from daily life, this mentorship will support you in strengthening your fundamentals while allowing your own style to emerge naturally.
• When technique meets observation, and observation meets emotion, a personal voice begins to appear.
• That journey is at the heart of this mentorship.

Mentorship Focus

1. To see like an artist—breaking down complex subjects into simple, strong shapes * To build a painting through composition and design, creating balance, movement, and harmony
2. To understand values deeply and use light and dark to create depth, mood, and atmosphere * To work with color with greater confidence—exploring harmony, temperature, intensity, and subtle color relationships
3. To use soft, hard, and lost edges to create focus, movement, softness, and expression * To balance realism with impressionistic freedom, keeping the essence of the subject while painting with looseness and sensitivity
4. To simplify what you see without losing character or emotion * To develop confidence in watercolor techniques, brush handling, layering, and decision-making

• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
