What you will learn in this mentorship

• I want to help you grow as an artist who loves and paints animals — and who would like to go beyond simply depicting them. My work focuses on animals in a disrupted-realism fashion, and it’s not an easy journey…but when you create an image that goes beyond the surface and touches your viewers deeply, it’s incredibly worthwhile. This journey is definitely not for everyone, though, so if you’d like to join to develop yourself as an animal artist while also gaining inspiration from how others ‘see’ creatively, please come on in. I don’t think I have any ‘secret sauce’ to share, but I look forward to learning with you as we explore this interesting terrain together.
• We will work on:
• the 5 fundamentals of creating any drawing or painting (spoiler alert: we will emphasize good drawing skills!)
• use of tools like Lightroom and Procreate to help you design and visualize your concept
• asking questions for each piece (what is important to express? what do you uniquely see?)

How This Mentorship Works

• Live online small-group mentorship
• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
• Mentor assigns homework so you can practice the skills you’re learning and get feedback on your results
• Meet mid-month with your group for informal connection
• Private group chat between sessions
• Join weekly live events with the Mastrius community
