We’ve all heard the saying, “It takes miles of canvas.” While practice makes perfect, the miles of canvas or years of practice leave out important information vital to your journey. It’s the quality of the art you create, not necessarily the quantity of the work. Don’t get me wrong, You will paint masterpieces, and you’ll paint duds. All of this is our journey.
The important aspects of painting, whether as a hobby, aspiring to become a professional, or enhancing our skills, all require the same technical understanding and skill development. Mastering those will provide confidence, excite you, unlock your voice, and provide the discovery you seek. The artist in you will blossom, and your confidence will soar. Those paintings you painted that just didn’t click will be tackled and converted into paintings full of exploration. Your confidence in addressing the issues that made them duds will escalate your abilities.
Understanding composition, color, color relationships, values, kinship, and basic knowledge to help you design your paintings from the start will make your journey more enjoyable. We will investigate how past masters used composition, values, edges, and color to direct the viewer around their paintings. We’ll discover your strengths and bring attention to areas of improvement. I’ll help you sort through the frustrating times, cheer on your accomplishments, and discover your interests every step along our adventure.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST
Linda Riesenberg Fisler is an artist, author, and mentor. She has taught at the Middletown Arts Center and conducted online mentor classes. She also writes, produces, and directs an internet radio show called Art Chats with Linda Fisler, on which she has interviewed many of today’s master artists. In winter 2023, Linda launched a bi-monthly painting instruction show called Chat, Create, & Cocktails. Both this online show and her podcast attract an international following. Art Chat is ranked in the top 50% of podcasts available worldwide. The program has an international audience with over 205K downloads and is starting its 13th season. Linda’s artwork has been featured in several galleries. Her painting “Bent Creek Late Fall” has recently been accepted in the 41st edition of Artistonish Contemporary magazine.
Linda is also an accomplished author. The Artist’s Magazine and F+W Media’s marketing books have featured four articles on art business advice. She has also published several art instruction eBooks. In 2015, she self-published her first fiction book, Blind Influence, which won three book festival awards (international and domestic festivals). The Blind Series consists of five books; the fifth (Dagger) was published in the summer of 2023. She is currently converting the five-book series to scripts for consideration as a streaming series. Linda is also writing book six, Blind Dominion, and a fantasy series called Tales of Reginnis.
Upon moving to Asheville, NC, Linda cycles and hikes the Blue Ridge mountains. These activities provide Linda with the spark to create. She studies and captures nature as it is not hoping that climate change does not rob future generations of the beauty she is enjoying today.
