SPECIALTY: ✔ Generalist

I hope to mentor my group of artists on the use & expressions of color, composition and spatial play in semi-abstract Cubist art.

I will be exploring the nuances of connection and interrelationships of form with positive and negative space in an artwork.

I will also be guiding the artists about authentically growing in the contemporary, traditional art space and also in the digital art space.

I will also touch upon tips about protecting IP and copyrights, how to handle licensing, brand partnerships and maintaining a stand out social media presence for greater visibility, while staying true to their own style.

Working from her studio in Montreal, Canada, Ishita is a modern Cubist artist and abstract expressionist.

Traditionally trained in Fine Art, with a BFA and MFA degree, she is a practicing artist with nearly 30 years experience. Ishita’s art is an assimilation of her life experiences, largely influenced by her relationship to impatience and impulsivity. Merging imagination and memory to create vivid and bold abstracts, people, faces and non-traditional portraiture, rendered in strong color, motifs and details.

Working with a variety of mediums like acrylics, inks, watercolors, pen and markets, she paints and draws intuitively, adding, mixing, editing, and layering color upon color that drive the process forward. She has successfully bridged traditional art with digital art methods and mediums. She uses digital art, photography and collage techniques with the traditional mediums of paint and ink on canvas. The resulting works are emotive, tactile, and experiential, full of complex layers, color and emotion.

Human interactions, emotions, moods, and feelings inspire her work. She loves abstracting these feelings and associations. Depicting people and nature in their tempestuous forms plays a big role in her work. Actively seeking out gnarled, broken, rocky, cyclic, layered, and grungy aspects of nature, she tries to find the beauty in the bizarre, the unexplained.

Through her art, she strives to give tangible forms to complex emotions like grief, longing, loss, love, suffering. The interplay of human relationships, whether with one’s own self or with others is a recurrent theme in the pieces she makes.

Threading lines, textures and markings in her work tell the story of the passage of time, the inter-connections of forms, both tangible and abstract.

She is deeply inspired by the Cubist style of art, unconstrained, outside the lines, breaking free of traditional rules of perspectives, and the role of interpretational abstracts that are as transient as human feelings. She has found incredible success as an artist both in the traditional art world and in the NFT space. Her unique creations are in the wallets of some of the biggest collectors in the traditional and digital art space, with more than 300 unique collectors of her work all over the world.

Ishita is multifaceted, multidisciplinary in her approach to art . She has been a guest on BBC News, as well as been featured in numerous media articles in prestigious publications like The New York Times, broadcast networks and podcasts. Her art has also been part of many social causes and fundraisers, like UNHCR and World Health Organisations.

She is currently working on a large wall mural for an immersive exhibition opening in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2024.

Outside of her daily art practice, she is a community builder. She believes in art education, art transcending borders and art as a universal language. She is an avid spokesperson for diversity, representation and women in web3. With her powerful, intelligent voice, Ishita teaches workshops on art, hosts panel discussions on art at conferences, and works to connect a community of artists and collectors in the new space where the lines between the various forms of art begin to blur.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artwork by Michaela Hoppe

Through my art, I strive to give tangible forms to complex emotions like grief, longing, loss, love, suffering. The interplay of human relationships, whether with one’s own self or with others is a recurrent theme in the pieces I make.

My art is an assimilation of my life experiences, largely influenced by my relationship to impatience and impulsivity. Merging imagination and memory to create vivid and bold abstracts, people, faces and non-traditional portraiture, rendered in strong color, motifs and details.

Working with a variety of mediums like acrylics, inks, watercolors, pen and markets, I paint and draw intuitively, adding, mixing, editing, and layering color upon color that drive the process forward. The resulting works are emotive, tactile, and experiential.

Human interactions, emotions, moods, and feelings inspire my work. I love abstracting these feelings and associations. Depicting people and nature in their tempestuous forms plays a big role in my work. Actively seeking out gnarled, broken, rocky, cyclic, layered, and grungy aspects of nature, I try to find the beauty in the bizarre, the unexplained.

Threading lines, textures and markings in my work tell the story of the passage of time, the inter-connections of forms, both tangible and abstract.

I am deeply inspired by the Cubist style of art, unconstrained, outside the lines, breaking free of traditional rules of perspectives, and the role of interpretational abstracts that are as transient as our feelings.

My art practice has evolved over the past 30 years to reside at the intersection of using the traditional media with digital art, photography and textures. It was a natural transition for my art to move into the NFT space as well. Bringing technology to blur the boundaries of creative expression was one of the conscious reasons why I decided to launch my artwork in the NFT space. Having my creations live on the blockchain for eternity was another reason that drew me to extend my art into the NFT space.

Outside of my daily art practice, I am a community builder. I believe in art education, art transcending borders and art as a universal language. Through my daily art practice and brand Soul Curry Art, I work to connect and build a community of artists and collectors in the new space where the lines between the various mechanics of art
