Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest, the region’s elements remain a constant inspiration in my artistic endeavors. I have had the privilege of experiencing all the places I paint firsthand, whether as a professional photographer or as a painter in more recent times. Revisiting familiar locations in a fresh perspective is always a joy, and discovering new vistas with my easel before me is even more exciting. My artistic creations are a product of my observations, memories, and emotions, often reflecting my current state of being.
Ian de Hoog is a Canadian artist and teacher specializing in watercolor. He is an active member of the Semiahmoo Arts Society and the Federation of Canadian Artists. As an instructor, Ian frequently contributes to the Visiting Artists series for the Opus Arts Supply chain in British Columbia. He serves as a watercolour instructor at the Shadbolt Centre for Fine Arts in Burnaby, BC, the Winslow Art Center in Seattle, WA and at White Rock Recreation and Culture. In addition to this, Ian has traveled throughout British Columbia to conduct workshops and demonstrations for various art groups and societies.
Ian’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and are included in a growing number of private collections around the world.
