What you will learn in this mentorship

• I am interested in mentoring FIGURATIVE work, ABSTRACT work, and FIGURATIVE ABSTRACT work.
• I have taught Clothed Figure Drawing at the San Francisco Academy of Art for over 30 years, as well as classes in my studio, focusing on the clothed figure, composition, value, color, and abstract techniques.
• My work reflects my interest in abstracting the figure, drawing and painting from the inside out rather than the outside in, and using abstraction as a way to tell stories and add depth to the narrative of the figure. I alternate this with pure abstraction, one informs the other.
• All painting, no matter how realistic or nonrepresentational, starts with an abstract design that balances shape, rhythm, value, and color.

• Live online small-group mentorship
• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
• Mentor assigns homework so you can practice the skills you’re learning and get feedback on your results
