What you will learn in this mentorship

• This group will be what Gavin always wished he had when he was a student – a place where you can learn the fundamentals in a friendly, straightforward and no-nonsense atmosphere while kicking around ideas and embracing experimentation.
• We will focus on simple, understandable instruction in the fundamentals and delve into your idea for a painting to help you focus on what’s really important (and spend less time and energy on what isn’t).
• Gavin will help you understand the painting process so you never get “lost” while painting. He’ll help you understand why things fall apart and show you how to take a step back, reassess, and fix the problem.

1. The process of painting so you can have a plan for any problem.
2. Composition, so your paintings will be as exciting and dynamic as possible.
3. How to use color for your own ends rather than just “chasing” it.
4. How to create depth and space in your painting.
5. The tanglible ways to get the very most out of your idea.

How This Mentorship Works

• Live online small-group mentorship
• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
• Mentor assigns homework so you can practice the skills you’re learning and get feedback on your results
• Meet mid-month with your group for informal connection
• Private group chat between sessions
