Welcome to the tranquil world of Olive Dodd, a pastel artist whose work is a reflection of her serene surroundings in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. As a lifelong resident of rural and remote areas, she finds inspiration in the beauty of the natural world. She expresses her love of nature through her art, with a focus on landscapes and animals. With no formal education in art, Olive has learned from many instructors and mentors. Olive previously worked with watercolor and acrylics, but has found a love for soft pastels due to their vibrant colors, inspiration, and ease of use. Her art combines realism with creativity, showcasing her ability to capture the essence of her subjects while infusing her own personal style. Olive seeks to convey emotion and mood in her paintings, inviting the viewer to experience the beauty of nature through her eyes. She believes that art has the power to bring joy and trigger positive memories or emotions in those who view it.

Each piece is a pastel rendition of those cherished memories captured during my backcountry explorations across breathtaking landscapes. From the gentle whisper of creek waterfalls to the rhythmic hush of river currents and the soulful expanse of the ocean, these bodies of water have been a source of happiness and a canvas for me to thrive. With pastels in hand, I transformed my personal photographs—snapshots of water from places that hold a special place in my heart—into expressions of tranquility. Through these paintings, I share with you the sense of serenity, peace, and flourishing spirit that water instills in me. Enjoy the journey through my eyes.
