MEDIUMS: Quilting | Watercolor
SPECIALTY: Generalist

Watercolorist Group

My group will work on technique, creating watercolors that shine. Lots of hard edges and realistic subjects. We’ll talk about creating giclees, canvases, metal pieces, etc. We will talk about pricing artwork to sell and selling those artworks online (both social media and website.) We’ll touch on licensing, branding and other business aspects that someone might like advice on. We will work on critiquing not only homework but other pieces created and also sharing our accomplishments (and struggles).

Quilter Group

This quilting mentorship will blend the beauty of traditional techniques with a fresh, modern twist. Whether you’re a beginner or an aspiring quilter, you’ll explore classic quilting methods while learning how to incorporate contemporary fabrics, bold color choices, innovative designs, improv and self design. Expect to experiment with updating traditional blocks, playing with scale, and adding unexpected elements to create a unique, modern take on quilting. You’ll leave with new skills and a deeper appreciation for the art of quilting, all while honoring its rich history.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lana Cease

“My art serves as a portal, transporting me back to the simple days of my youth spent in rural Iowa during the 1970s. Back then and even now, I am captivated by the intricate nuances found in everyday objects and individuals. I firmly believe that beauty resides in nearly all things and beings when seen through a fresh lens and from the right angle. By showcasing familiar sights in an unconventional light, my aim is to guide the audience in viewing the mundane with newfound appreciation. Working within the realm of realism not only fuels my creativity but also acts as a therapeutic retreat. My artistic inclinations gravitate towards playing with light’s luminance and the shadows it casts, as I perceive them as essential for crafting contrast and balance in a composition. While I am naturally drawn to the brilliance of light, I am equally compelled by the allure of shadows. Together, they embody the harmony in my art. My colors are often bright and playful, a high saturation of reality.”
