The work is evidence of the journey. My work chronicles loss, change, and learning. I paint moments of my experience that hook me on a gut level, working in this way to strengthen my intuition and clear my creative path forward. Technically, I paint until I can feel the core likeness of my subject. In the essentialist space of my work there is room for others to experience their reality while also having the option to connect to mine. As soon as there were cameras placed into our phones I began snapping moments that felt important to me. It would take years to understand that these images would birth my real work. Now as I pass through a moment, a space, or experience, I feel the resonance of my painting voice there and gather reference in this way. My process is economical, utilizing pure intuition over intellect in deciding what to paint and how to paint it.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST
Felicia attended the Art Students League of New York in 2006, moving next to San Francisco, Ca where she began her career as a fine artist and private instructor of painting. She has exhibited in shows nationally and internationally including The BP Portrait Award for which she was awarded second prize. She has been featured in podcasts and publications including The Huffington Post, Dazed Magazine, and Artists & Illustrators Magazine UK. Felicia is a highly sought after teacher who has allied with museums, schools and workshops all over the globe. She currently maintains a studio practice in San Francisco, CA, holding classes in painting technique and offering coaching online to private students.
