What you will learn in this mentorship

• This mentorship group is for emerging artists who are ready to explore the world of mixed media in a practical, hands on way. If you have been curious about combining different materials and processes but aren’t quite sure where to start, this group will give you the skills, the confidence and the creative framework to begin.
• Each session is built around a specific technique or area of practice, so you will always leave with something concrete to take back to your studio.
• We will cover photocollage, using your own photographs as a starting point for layered, atmospheric artwork. Printed collage, working with printed and found papers to add depth, texture and history to your work. Combining these elements within acrylic paintings to create cohesive, layered pieces. And how to create a narrative in your work, developing a thread that runs through everything you make so that it feels intentional and connected rather than a collection of unrelated experiments.
• Alongside the practical sessions we will talk about how to develop your own visual language, how to trust the process when things feel uncertain, and how to look at your work honestly and keep moving forward.
• All approaches and levels of experience are welcome. This is a space to experiment, ask questions and develop at your own pace.

How This Mentorship Works

• Live online small-group mentorship
• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
• Mentor assigns homework so you can practice the skills you’re learning and get feedback on your results
• Meet mid-month with your group for informal connection
