What you will learn in this mentorship

• Our group is focused on supporting artists in elevating their work to the next level.
• Members are specifically working on how to take photos, on location inspiration and other reference material and go beyond merely copying what’s there to create stronger designs and more personal, expressive, impactful and intentional paintings. Each session, artists have both hands-on practical painting assignments, which they get feedback on, as well as more reflective, personal inquiry journal work to help them clarify their artistic focus, goals and dreams.
• Open to addressing other needs both technical and marketing as desired by the group members.

Mentorship Focus

1. How to go beyond copying and create art with impact, that is your own personal expression.
2. Any technical/fundamental painting skills you need help with, e.g. composition, values, color, edges
3. Why you paint and what your goals and focus are for continued growth
4. A perspective on business, marketing, juried show questions facing artists
5. How to keep an empowering mindset that has you enjoy art making while continuing to stretch and grow

How This Mentorship Works

• Live online small-group mentorship
• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
• Mentor assigns homework so you can practice the skills you’re learning and get feedback on your results
• Meet mid-month with your group for informal connection
• Private group chat between sessions
• Join weekly live events with the Mastrius community
