In this live demo, Mastrius Mentor Krystal W. Brown will share how she finds FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION by using foundational techniques that become the springboard for free flowing creativity!
Krystal will teach how using the Old Master techniques of Grisaille and Sight Size will help you achieve accurate representation and clear design more quickly and effectively, starting from the very first mark.

What is Grisaille?
Grisaille is a traditional painting method using shades of gray to focus on light, shadow, and form. It helps build strong value relationships whether left as a study or finished in color.
What is Sight Size?
Sight Size is a method where the artwork is made to be the exact same size as the subject. By maintaining a 1:1 scale, artists are able to render proportions accurately. This trains the artist’s eye to see shapes and sizes accurately instead of guessing or estimating.

We will focus on tuning into your authentic expression by mastering fundamental skills. We will explore old master techniques through a unique approach to site size and grisaille that will unleash your creativity wether in the studio or outside.
You can trust that you will be supported through a lens of adoration where your unique strengths are recognized and expanded upon intuitively as we move together through this creative process that will benefit you and all those you create for.
ARTIST STATEMENT
As a painter I intentionally create fine art oil paintings filled with the transformational grace of beauty and its inherent power to heal.
The creative process is a healing balm for me and the work resulting from it carries that healing intention forward. Each stroke of the luminous oils are imbued with life and a place for the viewer to remember into each piece.
My delight in the subject is felt through the nuances of light and color. I’ve cultivated through a passionate pursuit of working from life a technique that portrays form accurately. You recognize it and take in the commonality of the scene and feel it through your own story. It is a sweet circle shared.
Celebrating beauty through art helps us to seek and find it in all situations. It transforms our experience, heals, soothes and blesses. That you receive all that and more is my intention with every creation.
