What you will learn in this mentorship

• This group is for artists who want to draw or paint anything—portraits, figures, landscapes, wildlife, or abstract design. The subject or medium is never the limitation; what matters most is learning how to truly see.
• You’ll train your eye to recognize every subject, whether realistic or stylized, as a combination of shapes and values. Once you develop this way of seeing, you can confidently create work in any style—academic or expressive, realism or abstraction.
• Together we’ll explore how strong compositions are built from harmonious shapes, regardless of whether they’re representational or purely abstract. You’ll learn to treat every painting as a design first, unlocking the freedom to depict anything with clarity and intention.

Mentorship Focus

1. Training Visual Sensitivity – Learn to see subjects as shapes, values, and compositions before focusing on style or medium.
2. Intentional Style Choices – Work representationally or abstractly with deliberate choices in color, form, and expression.
3. Supportive Critique – Receive clear, constructive feedback that sharpens skills while honoring your goals.
4. Form & Emotion Together – Combine strong fundamentals with expressive content for work that has both skill and meaning.
5. Composition as Design – Explore how shapes, spaces, and values create balance and guide the viewer’s eye.

How This Mentorship Works

• Live online small-group mentorship
• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
• Mentor assigns homework so you can practice the skills you’re learning and get feedback on your results
• Meet mid-month with your group for informal connection
