What you will learn in this mentorship

• Welcome to a mentorship for painters who want to plan with purpose — where every sketch, thumbnail, and color swipe works toward a stronger painting. We’ll spend each month exploring a new topic — composition, design, thumbnails, color harmony, value structure — while continuing to revisit and reinforce essential elements that make your paintings more successful by design.
• We’ll work both outdoors and indoors: doing plein air studies to see light, color, and environment first-hand, then bringing those insights back to the studio to expand, refine, and build larger works. Drawing, sketching in gouache, and color/value studies will all be part of our process. You’ll learn when and how to self-correct your work, how to choose what to fix, and how to apply what you discover in field studies to your studio pieces.
• The emphasis is on growth through practice, observation, and feedback — helping you sense where your painting needs more strength, and giving you tools and clarity to make those improvements.

How This Mentorship Works

• Live online small-group mentorship
• Monthly two-hour session with your mentor where you’ll receive feedback, teaching, and personal support from your mentor
• Mentor assigns homework so you can practice the skills you’re learning and get feedback on your results
• Meet mid-month with your group for informal connection
• Private group chat between sessions
