WORKSHOP Description
This workshop is designed to help artists improve their drawing by providing practical tools they can use while continuing their painting practice. We start with multiple tools designed to help us draw our subject accurately and establishing a perfect foundation for our paintings while also establishing a logical progression away from these tools and into an intuitive understanding of accurate drawing and form. I will also cover the inexpensive materials needed to take any artist from a novice level to that of an accomplished draftsperson.

Supply List
An inexpensive graphite pencil. Even a yellow #2 pencil will work fine. An eraser, white or kneaded, any brand. Inexpensive drawing paper such as Strathmore 300 series yellow pad or even copy paper. A 12 inch ruler with clear tick marks that are easy to read. The class focuses on doing the most with the most inexpensive materials for drawing.
Instructor Bio
Chris Beaven is best known for his evolving figure and portrait paintings that never quite settle on one specific style. “We are different people every day, I’m like everyone else, containing multitudes, there is no one box for me.” Like Chris’ artwork he and his wife have never settled and have lived all over the US, from Florida to Hawaii and many places in between. But, the one thread that has connected all his constant change is his extreme discipline to create every single day without stopping. The latest count is over 4900 days in a row, over 13+ years straight.
