WORKSHOP Description

We will paint together, seascapes, landscapes, and/or still life, starting from the first block-in to the finished piece. Enjoy learning the hidden mysteries behind the underlying “secret” layers one never glimpses when viewing a painting which is complete on the museum wall. I will guide you with each phase, watching your progress, encouraging you with beautiful, easy-to-learn techniques. Each time I present this easy painting process, students’ eyes are opened, I see smiles of recognition, and I enjoy the lights in students’ eyes, as they are transcending the technique!

Is this going to be you? There will be real time opportunities for questions and answers as we paint together. You will understand how to paint in mass and form, rather than in a linear method (which limits us). I will help you understand how to make soft edges as you proceed, I will teach you how to make good compositions in both landscape and still life. You will make rich, gorgeous paintings. Many of my methods are derived from the well loved and respected Rembrandt techniques, old Dutch Masters! We’ll discover, just as I did as a young student, that indeed one can paint as a Master of the Renaissance! When I was pursuing art, I wanted to paint lustrous paintings, and I just thought it would be impossible because the artists I admired were from so long ago. I found it was possible! For many years now, I have been passing on that elusive knowledge.

Learn from me, as I have learned from others, living today, who are Masters of these wonderful techniques. I will also encourage you to learn how to think positively as an artist. Everything starts in the mind. We will enjoy uplifting sessions together!

Instructor Bio

“I began my career at The Art Students League of New York in the late 1970’s. I was a young girl of 18, yet, I knew
what I wanted to do. Paint as a Master. It was a lofty goal of an ambitious young woman. I searched for someone
with whom I could study who taught in the manner of the Great Masters of the 1500’s in Italy, and as the Dutch
Masters painted. I was so thrilled to find that such a teacher existed. I immediately began my study with David
Leffel, who became my mentor for the next 6 years. Studying with other Internationally known painters, Ted Seth
Jacobs, Oldrich Teply, and John Howard Sanden, I developed a good, solid, basic knowledge of painting in the
traditional manner. I discovered that at this school, which patterns itself after the Renaissance Schools of Painting,
one could pursue mastery of the technique of chiaroscuro, developing skill in values- strong contrasts of light and
dark. I painted many still lifes, portraits and genre scenes in my early oil painting days. In recent years I have taken
workshops with Internationally known painters, David A.Leffel, Sherrie McGraw, Joan Potter, Burton Silverman,
Dennis Perrin, and local Ohio artists Judy Carducci, and Jack Liberman. Recently, I have taught out of my
home/studio, The Canton Museum of Art, The Massillon Museum of Art, the Summit Art Space in the hall of the
Akron Society of Artists, in the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, and at The Little Art Gallery. I have led workshops in the
U.S., Canada, and Europe. The workshop I did in France was in the lovely area well known as Provence. Workshops in Italy are in the works. Experience A former board member of the prestigious American Artists’ Professional League in New York City, NY, the responsibilities of artist, Lin,included the viewing of slides and artist jurying for the League’s Grand National Exhibitions. Her position on the Board awarded her the privileged honor of selecting artists from around the nation for participation in National Exhibitions. She continues in her capacity as judge in the Ohio Valley, where she now resides, jurying Exhibitions such as the the Midwest Art National Exhibition and Competition, the Taste of Stow, in Stow, Ohio, and the Kent State Stark Art Competition. Fiore helped found the Taste of Stow Art Exhibition, acting as its Visual Artists’ Director. She was the Exhibition Director for The American Artists Professional League’s shows in Connecticut. Fiore is a member of the Oil Painters of America, and is a Signature Member of the Akron Society of Artists, the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, and the Women’s Art League of Akron, and The Canton Artists’ League She is frequently asked to demonstrate her oil painting technique for art organizations.
